South Landing
South Landing is one of 19 POA’s located in the gated 2500 acre community of Carolina Trace. South Landing has 142 lots of which 79 are already occupied. The terrain is comprised of rolling hills that are heavily wooded with loblolly pines, oaks, and maples.
South Landing offers a private swimming pool and a marina on 315 acre Lake Trace for boating and fishing. The lake is beautiful and tranquil since no gasoline motors are permitted.
Our minimum lot sizes and setback requirements are among the most generous in Carolina Trace.
Our Area
We are located in the Sandhills area of the Piedmont Region in North Carolina. The Sandhills is a strip of ancient beach dunes, once on the coastline in ages where the ocean level was higher, that separates the Piedmont from the coastal plain. We are centrally located in the state so our residents are about 2 hours from ocean beaches or 3 hours from the western mountains.
We are about 45 minutes south of the major city of Raleigh and even closer to Research Triangle Park where the largest employers in our region are situated, many of which are in the high tech sector. The proximity to these locations offer many cultural venues such as the Durham Performing Arts Center, the Carolina Ballet, the NC Museum of Art, Museum of Natural Sciences, and Museum of History. In addition major academic institutions such as Duke University, University of North Carolina, NC State, and Wake Forest University are also in the same region.
World class medical facilities such as Duke University Hospital, UNC Hospital and Rex Hospital are within an hour’s drive.
45 minutes to our south is Pinehurst which offers an abundance of fine golf including Pinehurst #2 course, the site of several US Open tournaments. Pinehurst is also home to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, another well rated medical facility.
Our People
As you navigate through the pages of this site you will see many pictures of the residents of South Landing laughing, relaxing and enjoying the company of their neighbors during the many social events that occur here. What you will not see, but nevertheless is woven into the fabric of our community, is the spirit of our people.
Many of our residents are heavily involved in volunteer organizations. One resident coordinates CARE, an informal assistance program offered to any of our neighbors in need of help. It consists of a network of volunteer residents who will support a neighbor upon request. Typical activities include driving to doctor’s appointments, cooking meals for folks recovering from surgery or illness, and helping with household projects.
In addition, many of our residents volunteer at area organizations such as:
Helping Hand Clinic |
